- RIVER BANK CLINIC -

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
E - Newsletter: December 2020

Hello, and welcome to our December newsletter

We are now in CAREFUL PRACTICE - (Phase 2) YAY!

During the period of 05 November - 05 December owing to our robust Covid-19 secure practice procedures, we successfully navigated the High Need or Urgent Care only phase of practice, and as of 06 December we are now in Phase 2 - Careful Practice.

This means that previously restricted close contact or facial procedures are now permitted. This news was particularly welcomed by our patients suffering with skin problems related to perimenopausal skin changes, PCOS, eczema and psoriasis.   Wellbeing and maintenance treatments are now permitted too, so you are very welcome to resume your treatment protocols in our Covid-19 secure clinic environment.

Nevertheless, I am writing this on 15 December, whilst Sheffield awaits to hear about tier reclassification tomorrow, the news that some European countries (Germany, Netherlands and Czech Republic) face extended lock downs over the Christmas period is coming through and the UK government is being encouraged to reconsider the relaxation of restrictions over Christmas...

Whatever shape Christmas we get this year, please stay safe and be mindful that whatever we do will have an impact on our every day life in January.

Please be assured that it is absolutely fine to cancel and reschedule your appointment when you are not feeling your best.

The River Bank Clinic Opening Hours Are:

Tuesday: 17:30 - 20:30 (Twilight Clinic - The New Expanded Hours))
 Wednesday: 9:00 - 14:30 & 17:30 - 20:30 (Twilight Clinic)

- Your Nomination Could Help the 150th Scouts Win £1000 -

Did you know that every Thursday after I hang up my clinic scrubs I transform into a 150th Beaver Scout Leader? I started volunteering 7 years ago. My children were not even Beavers age then and they are now fully grown Scouts! I started as an assistant leader helping the then leader in charge as the colony was at risk of closing down. Eventually I took over the running of the colony and we now have a great team of leaders in place making our weekly meetings (when not in lockdown) for the littlest of Scouts fun and educational. Over the past few years, owing to my study commitments it has been tough and since Covid it has been even harder to keep the colony going through these unusual times. Spending all my university lectures and the Chinese herbs clinic online via Teams meetings, does mean that I think it is essential to meet our Beavers face to face in an outdoor and covid secure environment when possible. I am now also due to accompany 150th Scouts to Kandersteg (Switzerland) International Scout Camp camp in Summer 2022. This volunteering activity provides an enrichment for young people and we will make it part of our annual summer travel adventures.  Better fit up for this!

Just like all other charitable organisations around the UK, the 150th Scouts have been severely affected by the Covid-19.  Please consider supporting us by making your nomination at this time so that we can support young people in our colonies, packs and troops. Please read Tracey's (our Tuesday Scout leader) message below and nominate us.

- Community Engagement: Your Nomination Could Help 150th Scouts Win £1000 -

Hi

You may have seen on our Facebook page that we are asking our supporters and parents to nominate us in Ecclesiastical's 12 days of giving.

£1,000 could make a big difference to the work we do with our young people.  That’s why we’d be really grateful if you could nominate us in Ecclesiastical’s 12 days of giving. Your nomination could be the one that wins us £1,000. Open to eligible charities in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, Ecclesiastical will be donating a total of £120,000 to 120 charities over 12 days in December and we’d love to be one of them. It’s quick and easy to nominate us. Just visit https://movementforgood.com/12days/, click ‘nominate now’ and enter our details. Our charity number is 1007932. Nominations are open now, closing at midnight the day before each draw. Charities not drawn will be carried over to the next draw, and draws will take place each weekday from 7 December to 22 December 2020. The more nominations we get, the greater our chance of winning, so please spread the word to your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your time and support.

Kindest regards

Tracey

Tuesday Scout Leader  [on behalf of 150th Sheffield (Wadsley Church) Scout Group]

Let us introduce our new clinic helper.

This Air Purifier removes up to 99.9% of viruses and aerosols from the air.

Designed with a multi-stage active filtration system, which captures up to 99.97% of particles that pass through the filter as small as 0.3 microns – the size of most common airborne allergens, particles, bacteria and viruses.

Removes aerosols including those which may contain respiratory viruses from the air that pass through the filter. It sanitises the air by removing up to 99.9% of viruses from the air*, making sure that you always breathe clean air.

You clinic experience at River Bank Integrative Health is all that matters to us as evidenced by our latest investment in air purification technology.

- Dr.Hauschka Dermatology and Medicinal range -

Dr.Hauschka Skin Care products are 100% certified natural cosmetics.  Almost every one of my patients benefits from the use of Dr.Hauschka products, either via the massage oils that are used to palpate areas of disorder, or the dermatology range used in facial acupuncture treatments. I do not actively seek to sell these products to my patients but nevertheless think these products are the best on the market. All Dr Hauschka products are available for purchase from our clinic. I am the only other Sheffield stockist of these fantastic German natural cosmetics apart from John Lewis and my prices are generally about £5 lower per product. As this is not my main business, my sole motivation here is to secure the product availability for the treatments I provide. Please feel free to enquire about Dr Hauschka products in my clinic and ask about which testers I have to try.

We have taken the following steps in order to be Covid-19 secure.  The key steps were initially introduced on 15 June to safely provide an 'urgent care only' practice. After a recent review some minor tweaks have been introduced but most of our adaptions remain to keep you as safe as possible.

Key Steps Taken

1. Treatment Spacing
We are not running at full capacity with appointments having extra spacing between them. This will allow for additional room cleaning time and prevent patient crossover.  Inevitably this means that we have less appointment slots available but we will do all we can to accommodate you.

2. Soft Furnishings and Surfaces
All clinic surfaces at River Bank Integrative Health have now been ‘decluttered’, ready for wipe down cleaning and disinfection between the treatments. Rest assured, just like before, all pillowcases and towels are changed after each patient. We already followed good infection control measures, so this is just a little extension to what we already do.

3. Soap & Disinfectant
As has always been the case, I wash my hands prior to any physical contact and again immediately after. I will also ask patients to wash their hands upon arrival. The clinic’s bathroom is now equipped with paper towels and a forearm operated soap dispenser.

4. Opening Doors
Please allow me to open all doors for you on arrival (and exit) at River Bank Integrative Health. Please make use of the banister on your way up/down as all touch areas including door handles and the banister are disinfected between patients.

5. Masks, for You & Myself
I will be wearing a face mask on your arrival and I have also spaced chairs in the treatment room 2m apart. Patients are asked to wear a mask also. You may wear your own mask, but River Bank Integrative Health can provide one if you like.

6. Cleaning
We have fully reviewed our (already robust) cleaning procedures and increased the time between patients for thorough room cleaning and ventilation. The clinic is fully stocked with hand sanitiser, soap, disinfectants, wipes and all other PPE equipment.

7. Toilet Facilities
Our toilet facilities will remain open but we mention that it may be easier to go before or after visiting River Bank Integrative Health. For your convenience 75% alcohol disinfectant wipes are provided, for those who do use our facilities. Please note, these wipes are not flushable and need to be disposed off in the bin provided.

8. Payment
River Bank Integrative Health is now a cashless business. All payments will be taken via bank transfer prior to your appointment at the clinic.

9 Tips to Remember Before and During Your Treatment
1. Check Symptoms
I will ask you some Covid-19 health screening questions upon your arrival and may ask to take your temperature with a contactless thermometer.

2. Bathroom
The toilet facilities are open for use, however, at River Bank Integrative Health we encourage you to use your own bathroom before and/or after treatment.

3. Be on Time
Please arrive promptly. Upon your arrival, please wait in your car outside the clinic. Text me when you arrive and I will come out to greet you and open the door for you.

4. Wash & Disinfect
Please wash your hands in our bathroom. Disposable paper towels and a forearm operated soap dispenser are provided for your convenience.

5. Masks
Please wear a mask at all times whilst at River Bank Integrative Health.  We have masks available if you forget.  If you are having facial acupuncture we will discuss how we will undertake this prior to your appointment.

6. Consent
Our insurance and good practice requires an increased level of consent from all patients. This is to check that you do not think you are at risk of bringing Covid-19 into River Bank Integrative Health and that you consent to treatment where the practitioner will need to be within two metres of you. This will be emailed to you prior to your appointment or as part of your pre-treatment telephone consultation.  Also in certain specific circumstances we are obligated by law to provide your personal details to NHS Test and Trace. By attending an appointment you consent to this.

7. Telephone Triage
All new patients (and returning patients with altered treatment objectives) will undergo a telephone call triage prior to their first or restarted treatment. This interview typically takes up to 45 minutes and the objective is to minimise 'talking'  time in our shared space. There is no charge for this.

8. Cough and Sneezes
Please adhere to good hygiene practice and cough/sneeze into the crook of your elbow to avoid spreading germs, and even better please follow the Catch It, Bin It, Kill  It advice. Tissues, waste bins and handwashing facilities are available throughout the clinic.

9. Payment
All payments should be made prior to your physical appointment by bank transfer.

The above phases are guided by current clinical and government advice. They are also designed to inform our actions in case we are required to restrict practice owing to the Covid-19 infection rate or prevalence increasing.

Following the lifting of the lockdown in England we have returned to Phase 2 - Careful Practice with all health treatments able to resume under Covid-19 secure guidelines and practice.

We instituted our Covid secure practice response when we initially re-opened on 15 June in Phase 4 - Urgent Care only practice. The Phase 4 practice provided us with the opportunity to embed and test our enhanced C-19 clinical routines, and we are now comfortable with the procedures that are in place.

The Covid-19 related disruption to your acupuncture treatment affects the quality of life of many of you. An increase in (previously acupuncture controlled) chronic pain, reduced mobility, hot flushes, menstrual cycle disorders and often of newly acquired anxiety and sleep disturbances have all been reported to me.

Should your condition, mental health or emotional wellbeing suffer without acupuncture treatment you are very welcome to continue your course of the treatment or approach me for a triage appointment.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss any aspect of your treatment and the safety measures that are in place.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
